Humboldt River-Articulating Mats

Humboldt River Articulating Concrete Mats

Located on the meandering Humboldt River just outside of Mill City, Nevada, the Humboldt River irrigation project included the installation of a new weir and hard armoring of the river bank. Approximately 1,400 square feet of Submar articulated concrete block mats manufactured by Basalite were installed. The 4.5" inches tall, M4540 open cell blocks were used to protect the susceptible shoreline. The installation is now protecting the sensitive shoreline upstream of the weir and irrigation canal. Submar is a superior alternative stablizer compared to other non-mechanical systems (such as rip-rap), with a long life cycle and lower maintenance costs.
